Cancer of the prostate.

Hello folks...I have very recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. I am 60 years of age and thankfully it has been diagnosed early after a chance PSA test. low/intermediate risk and is contained in the prostate. I have been given five different options from watch and wait to radical prostectomy. I will need to make a decision soon as to what my path should be in trying to treat it but my initial feeling is that I may like to go down the road of the relatively new process of Cryotherapy or HIFU. Does anyone here have experience this treatment through the NHS or otherwise. I have been told that it is available at the hospital who's care I am under. Thank you advance.

  • Hello Sicknote62 and welcome to the forum, although i too have PCa my only option was RT and HT due to my circumstances. the decision is down to you which you choose, HT and RT work well on early stage PCa but do come with many side effects, cryotherapy and HIFU don't, and as i know only a little about them can't help,  and surgery is usually done with therapy and  if you are sexually active poses the greater risk of ending it. take care, Eddie

  • Hiya mate I've just read your post. It's a tough decision that you have to make. I came on here because my Mrs has a shadow on her lung but I've been reading everything. You guys are so brave. I've been crying like a baby over my Mrs. I wish you the very best of luck and pray for your recovery. God Bless you mate.
