Hi my name is Garry
So to cut to the chase… my father (who is 65) went to the doctor with stomach pain and back pain. After a blood test the doctor said he needed to go to the hospital immediately, the term used (that I am not totally familiar with) is “billy Ruben’s levels”.
After days of testing… and no-one on the medical staff really able to give much in the way of information, we were told he has Gilbert’s syndrome and it could be Gallstones. Then a short time later some devastating news came back. My Dad has a tumour on his pancreas, It is located in such a place that it blocks his bile duct, hence his liver is not properly functioning.
He has recently has a PET scan to see if iit has spread and they are putting a camera down there to see what’s going on. He’s had a drain fitted to try and get his levels down and make him more comfortable. Sadly he will not be home with us for Christmas.
Right now we are all waiting to find out whether the tumour is benign (there is a small chance of it) if it is contained or spread, if so what stage it is and of course, what they are doing to do about it.
We are all understandably devastated by all of this. My mother is not dealing with it well and my sister isn’t doing too good either. I, on the other hand, as hard it as it, am trying to stay strong for the both of them and my Dad. I have done some independent research and, well, if doesn’t look too good… to put it mildly.
For that reason I am reaching out to people on here… not just for messages of support but for information from those with experience of this to give me an idea of what to expect
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks
G
