locally advanced prostate cancer

Hello everyone, not the club any of us wanted to join, but here we are. I have prostate cancer locally advanced it's treatable but not curable been through HT  RT and had a TURP, I do not  know what ,if any, treatment i may get in the future as other health conditions will limit any options. Anyway i hope i don't  come across miserable as i am not, life is good, i have a wonderful partner, i was fortunate to be able to retie early and i am physically fine apart from one or two things and hope to have a few years yet I did 15 years in healthcare, of which 5 were in end of life cancer, care. I joined this forum not because you are all dealing with cancer in one way or another but  because i have found  this horrible disease brings out the best in us, which i think is going to help me on my cancer journey. good luck on yours. Eddie

  • Hi Eddie,

I just wanted to offer you a very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat community as you haven't had a reply just yet and to reassure you that your post has been seen.

You don't come across as miserable at all. In fact, I sensed a lot of positivity and optimism in your post, which I'm sure many of our members who are on a similar pathway will really appreciate and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by for a chat.

If you have any questions about your diagnosis, or would just like to talk things through with someone, then do give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to help.

We're thinking of you Eddie and wishing you all the best with next stage of your journey.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph, thanks for replying i have an appointment with oncologist soon, but recently had a phone call with cardiologist  who is not keen on me having chemotherapy especially anthacyclines, like i said see oncologist soon, but it's a phone appointment, can i ask for a face to face. take care

  • Hi eddiel,

If you feel you would like a face-to-face appointment, you could always call the hospital back to see if this is an option (if it is, it may require a longer waiting time). Otherwise, you could see what they say in the appointment and whether a face-to-face is then the next step.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
