Fit test over 400

I hope you are all well, I have suffered hemorrhoids bleeding for over 20 years, 10 years ago I have blood test and show me anemia.Last week I did the fit test first time and the result is over 400,the GP classified me as an urgent case, and will do colonocopy next week.

I am 49, male, father of 3 children, no weight loss, no nausea , appetite is normal to good, but I really scared for the high value fit result, Do I have wel cancer? will I die?I can't stop my scare, it's really torture for me right now. is 400 means very high chance of cancer?

  • FIT tests don't really determine chance of cancer; they just say if there is blood in the stool and how much. 44 would indicate quite a lot of blood in your stool, but many things can cause that. Cancer is one option, but others are polyps, diverticulitis, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, hemorrhoids, an infection... Until you have the colonoscopy, there is no way of telling what is likely to be the cause.
