Raised calprotectin worried.

Hi all,

Just wanted some insight i have a raised fc level of 88 with ibs symptoms. Fit was negative despite having spotting of blood i have seen. Blood tests are fine.

History-

Colonscopy in 2014 showed possible crohns as ulcers found in ileum put on pentasa. I started to feel better however all mri and biopsys still did not give a crohns diognosis.

Repeat colonscopy in 2018 clear colonscopy ulcers had gone.and calprotectin was level 90. So was given a diognosis of ibs and discharged.

Lived life like normal always having ibs type symptoms now and then stools have never always been 100% some days are better then others.

Lately bowels seem more erratic due to anxiety and stress. And all tests have come back clear except slight raised calprotectin of 88. I am very scared and confused as to what is going on. Gp states levels are more or less the same as 5 years ago and colonscopy was clear. So im just confused as to what to do. I know my levels are not high compared to many on here. But just need to know what should be done. I feel as though i have just been misdiagnoised and now its too late.

I am so scared and if it is just ibs or something else

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Ok thats good signs, have you had any blood tests done? Im still waiting to hear from gastro to see what next steps are. Honestly just want to live a normal life without this hanging over my head. Do you get any pain? 83 level is not overly high compared to alot but still it indicates inflammation. Just wondering to you have a gallbladder?
