I am sorry to hear that you now find yourself in this unenviable position. I lost my mum to secondary breast cancer, which had spread to her brain, bones, liver and lungs. I am so glad to hear that your own mum has survived her bout. Because of the family history, I was naturally terrified when I was first diagnosed. I had a lumpectomy, then discovered a second lump in the same breast the following year. I had a double mastectomy second time around and haven't looked back since. That was 14 years ago.

Diagnosis, treatments and after-care have all improved tremendously in recent years and there was just no comparison between mum's cancer journey and mine. I know that it is only natural to keep poking and prodding, but do your best to leave your breasts alone. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be cysts or fibrous changes and some women have naturally lumpy breasts. It is a fact that only 2 people out of every 10, who attend the cancer clinic, will get a cancer diagnosis. 

I sincerely hope that all goes well for you on 16th and that nothing untoward is found.
