Awaiting breast referral results - how do others cope?

Hi I’m nearly 43, I found a lump a few months back but only attended the doctors a few weeks ago as I was unsure what it was. They referred me straight away and I got an appointment with a surgeon at breast clinic. He did an ultrasound and said he was concerned about my lump and referred me to have mammogram. Had my mammogram yesterday, the doc said it looks suspiciously like cancer. I had 6 core biopsies done on 2 areas and markers put in. I need to wait a week for my results. I know in my heart what is coming, I seen the lump on the mammogram and it’s a spikey thing about 2 and half centimetres. The wait is torture. Sorry for ranting but wondering how others coped in this situation xx

  • It's hard not to worry if it's a face to face though. The breast nurse told me on the phone the other day that on average they look at 130 cases a week at the 2 weekly MDT meetings they have. Will definitely let you know the results. I will either want you to celebrate with me or will be needing support for the foreseeable future. Thank you.
