Hi. I had a right hemicolectomy a few years back. The first few weeks after I had the runs 12 times a day what ever I ate. But it did improve after that quite quickly. I found that fibre was my enemy at first and I ate simply but boring scrambled eggs, potatoes, chicken, fish that sort of thing. Introduced veg and fruit slowly in small amounts. Also found jelly babies were good at firming ' things' up - but don't overdo them else you'll have the reverse prob- maybe 6 or 8 a day. Marshmallows also good.

Many years on I still have some issues with fibre and also lactose  Intolerance . But better to be alive.
