Scared

Hi, I’m new here and have endometrial cancer aged 70. I’m due to have surgery as a day case? on Friday and I’m really scared. I have atrial fibrillation and take Rivaroxaban but will take my last one this evening until after surgery. I’m also carer for my husband.
I know it sounds silly but I’m scared if not waking up after the op or something going wrong. Some reassurance would be most welcome. Thank you.

  • I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Our minds play all sorts of tricks and cause us to think of the worst case scenario. But the surgeons are doing this as they believe it can help you they wouldn't put you at risk of not waking up. It's normal to be afraid it occupies your waking hours but please try and relax. Read a good book, some deep breathing or chat to one of the nurses or talk to someone but don't allow those thoughts to crowd you. Breathe you've got this xx

  • Thank you so much. I really appreciate your reply. I’m trying to relax and not overthink everything.
