Anxiety

Recently diagnosed with non hodgepodge lymphoma !
Doc said because it’s a bit rare it can’t be cured but can be managed.
Had my first chemo last week. I feel like a basket case with this anxiety. I didn’t want to be around since I lost my husband to esophageal cancer, now I’ve realised I do. But if the cancer doesn’t get me the anxiety will, don’t worry I’m not suicidal, just constantly panicking. Anyone else feel the same.

  • Hi Truey,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear that you've lost your husband to cancer Was this quite recent? Being anxious at the start of a cancer journey is something that anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis will admit to. If this is affecting your life to a great extent, it might be worth discussing this with your GP, as a mild anti-depressant could help. This is also a time when many of us become very tearful, but this is not such a bad thing, as cyring is a great stress reliever.

If it is of any help to you to know, I have a number of friends who have been diagnosed with this at an early age and they are still going strong, many years on. How did you manage your first chemo and how many sessions are you due to have?

Your anxiety will gradually begin to settle now that you have started treatment.

Now that you've found us, you need never feel alone. We have a great group of support here, from people who know how you feel from first hand experience. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
