A very warm welcome to our forum.

Only 20% of all cases referred to the breast clinic turn out to be cancer, so you're right that the chances are this is more likely to be a cyst or fibroadenoma. In spite of knowing this, it is usually an anxious time until you get your results. You will normally have about a 2 week wait from the date of referral,to get your appointment at the clinic. Most people then have a mammogram, ultrasound and a biopsy. Younger people are less likely to have a mammogram, as their breasts tend to be denser and they don't get a clear enough image.

There is then a further 1-3 week wait to get the results of these tests. If you have tests make sure to ask when you can expect to get them back before you leave your coonsultation, as times vary throughout the country. I have had two bouts of breast cancer, but I am still living a busy and productive life 13 years on from diagnosis..

Hi Jolamine,

Thankfully it's just a fatty lump after weight loss and having a baby. I'll have to get used to the lumps and make sure I can tell if there are any changes but I'm so thankful.

I'm currently waiting for my 2ww appointment for swelling under my submandibular ( part of the jaw). I don't know if you're the same as me pretty certain it'll be fine but also googling and finding a million different things that just cause worry. I really hope your appointment goes well and it is only good news ♥️
