Large Diffuse B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma

Anyone in similar boat to me? I'm told I'm terminal but have beaten the odds before At the moment I'm feeling quite fine and enjoying life each day as it comes  I'd love to hear from any women within reach (I live in Canterbury Kent) for friendship

Time is the most valuable gift we can give

  • Hello Pete1954

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It's understandable that you want to connect with others who might understand some of what you're dealing with at the moment.

It's good to know that you're feeling generally well and enjoying life. Having that positive approach and mindset undoubtedly helps many people to cope when they are living with an incurable illness.

I'm not sure that we have any members here on Cancer Chat who have the same diagnosis but hopefully if there are any they will reply to say Hello. In the meantime, I wanted to give you the link to Lymphoma Action. They have lots of different support available and hopefully may be able to connect you with others who have the same diagnosis and are local. You might also like to have a look at the Blood Cancer UK site as well.

Time is certainly a valuable gift Pete, and I hope that you're able to connect with others who understand and can share with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Thanks for the reply :)

It would be nice to chat with and possibly meet someone who is also fighting cancer not specifically Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Fortunately my step daughter is very close and supportive and I have good friends who care (unlike my ex wife) I've been advised to try normal dating sites, but prefer to be up front and honest No one's going to fall madly in love with me overnight but it would be nice to befriend and support someone Go for walks, gardening, cinema, meals out etc

  • Hi Pete.

while I'm not unfortunately a woman or anywhere near Canterbury, I'm currently in remission from a rare aggressive type of NHL called Burkitt Lymphoma, initially suspected to be DBCL - but different in cell nature and a little more rotten!

if you do feel like you would like to chat, please feel free to message me through this forum

  • Hi Sean

    I'm OK to chat

Glad to hear you are in remission

I'm nearing the end of chemo treatments, I'm having a PET scan on Tuesday then on 29th March my cancer specialist will send my results to a London hospital for a second opinion and to see if any trials available I can go on My last PET scan showed 20 out of 21 tumours gone but not the original one which is why after two years of chemo, I'm now on pallative care with the aim of buying me more time (50 % chance of living 6 to 12 months)

I'm interested to hear your story if you OK sharing it

    Pete
