Results time

Hi

I had a cervical biopsy done 25 days ago.

Should I of heard by now?

Parents
  • It took just over 4 weeks for the results from my womb biopsy to come through in the summer - they came by post. I rang up at about the 25 day point and all they would tell me was that the results would arrive by letter. I'm pretty sure I would have had a phone call before then if they had needed to see me again quickly. As it was, my outcome was to have a repeat biposy six months later. I'm now awaiting results from that but they indicated that they would contact me if they needed to and otherwise I would see them again for another biopsy in 6 months time.

I think some aspects for me are similar to you as I was also on the mirena coil, started spotting and once it was removed then started with irregular bleeding and then almost constant bleeding, despite supposedly being through the menopause. I was put back on the coil at my most recent biopsy and all being well will need two more biposies six months apart before being discharged (well at least for that aspect, multiple issues here)

I hope that you hear soon, the waiting really is  horrible

  • Good morning Leni

    Thankyou so much for messaging.

    Yes we are similar.

Apparently I'm out of the menopause.

My mirena was at its 5 year span a year ago.

Was told by a consultant they can last for up to 10 years.

Had spotting on and off for the past year.

Anyway in January I had a transvaginal scan. And he tried to remove the coil (I shouldn't of agreed as on insertion it was horrific) anyways he couldn't get it, (it's stuck) so I have to be put out for that.  But after the transvaginal he said I'll refer you for a colposcopy.

    Why??

Again anyways at the colposcopy the top guy says I doubt a biopsy will be needed.  But no..he did do it.

First guy said lining was nice and thick.

Next guy says your lining is very thin.

    I'm lost.

My health anxiety is off the scale normally but this is awful.  I'm scared to ring but I'll have to if no news today.

But.... you gave me some comfort by saying you think you would of had a phonecall before if there was a concern xx

  • I'm presuming since you haven't posted that you've maybe still not heard? Please do ring, even if its just to ask when and how you might be told the results. When I rang, I got an answer phone but they rang me back the next day - though only to say results would be a letter - it was 4 weeks and 2 days in the end

Like you I had spotting with the coil in place as I got to the 5 year mark. It was my second coil. Since I was over 50, the nurse told me I could not get another coil at my doctor's surgery but that this one could stay in for another 2-3 years as it would help with menopause symptoms (like a form of HRT) but would not be effective past the 5 years as contraception. The consultant at the hospital told me that since my coil was never for contraception, but hormonal issues, the nurse should have been able to just give me another coil!!

  • Hello

I rang the secretary today,  I was shaking.  Anyway she rang back, seemed confused,  said she would send me a letter out!

I said to her that at my last visit in febuary the consultant said he'd push my appointment through for the coil removal. The lady said it'll be June probably!

But I'd seen him last November and he said about 5 months then.

    Anyway dreading the letter now.

So my my coil has now been in for just over 6 years

I want it out so badly.

The last couple of days I've had a pressure in the lower abdomen, just above the section scar.

Not sure if it's to do with the coil or maybe a infection or water infection (it feels like that( as I'm prone to them. Was in and out of hospital as a child ie bladder issues.

I definitely don't want another coil.

My consultant said I could have another but no.

It's great to talk with you x

    HI Fallmare,

I'm glad to hear that you finally plucked up the courage to phone your consultant's secretary and that she is sending you a letter. Have you received this yet? I can understand why you are desperate to get your coil removed and can fully understand your consternation at having to wait until June for this. Here's hoping that your results are ok.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine

No still nothing.. I thought after speaking to the secretary on Thursday it might of arrived today.

It's making me feel very anxious.

    I'm hoping so too.

I've been waiting for removal since November.

    Thankyou so much xx

    Hi Fallmare,

It's a long time to wait. Hopefully, this means that they haven't classed this op as urgent. If she posted it on Thursday, it will surely be here on or Monday.

I'm hoping and praying for god results for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
