I'm presuming since you haven't posted that you've maybe still not heard? Please do ring, even if its just to ask when and how you might be told the results. When I rang, I got an answer phone but they rang me back the next day - though only to say results would be a letter - it was 4 weeks and 2 days in the end
Like you I had spotting with the coil in place as I got to the 5 year mark. It was my second coil. Since I was over 50, the nurse told me I could not get another coil at my doctor's surgery but that this one could stay in for another 2-3 years as it would help with menopause symptoms (like a form of HRT) but would not be effective past the 5 years as contraception. The consultant at the hospital told me that since my coil was never for contraception, but hormonal issues, the nurse should have been able to just give me another coil!!
I rang the secretary today, I was shaking. Anyway she rang back, seemed confused, said she would send me a letter out!
I said to her that at my last visit in febuary the consultant said he'd push my appointment through for the coil removal. The lady said it'll be June probably!
But I'd seen him last November and he said about 5 months then.
Anyway dreading the letter now.
So my my coil has now been in for just over 6 years
I want it out so badly.
The last couple of days I've had a pressure in the lower abdomen, just above the section scar.
Not sure if it's to do with the coil or maybe a infection or water infection (it feels like that( as I'm prone to them. Was in and out of hospital as a child ie bladder issues.
I'm glad to hear that you finally plucked up the courage to phone your consultant's secretary and that she is sending you a letter. Have you received this yet? I can understand why you are desperate to get your coil removed and can fully understand your consternation at having to wait until June for this. Here's hoping that your results are ok.
It's a long time to wait. Hopefully, this means that they haven't classed this op as urgent. If she posted it on Thursday, it will surely be here on or Monday.
