2ww appointment tomorrow……sick with nerves

Hiii

first time posting here, but I've read so many stories. I found a lump under my armpit around 2 weeks ago and popped to see the GP, now I work in a clinical setting and new the protocol, but once those words came out of her mouth, I felt devastated, i honestly thought she'd of tutted at me and said I was waisting her time. I don't really know why I'm posting. I'm just trying not to be a debbie downer at home for my husband and son, we've had our share of bad luck with ill family members and I don't want to be a extra burden, now the GP was very reassuring that and I like I said previously I tick boxes, im 35 and have a new lump, now I dearnt allow myself to think it will be ok, as my mam thought that and she was poorly, she's all better now and living life to the max and won't bliddy retire but I'm not as strong as her she's amazing

im sorry for rambling

xx

    Hi Worried and Fudge,

I am sorry to hear why you're both here. Waiting to be see and then waiting for a diagnosis are  the worst parts of a cancer journey. I lost my mum to cancer and completely went to pieces when I was first diagnosed. That was 13 years ago. I had a second bout of breast cancer the following year. I am pleased to say that diagnosis, treatment and aftercare have all improved dramatically since my mum had it. I now lead a busy and fulfilling life.

The possibility of a cancer diagnosis affects the entire family. Not all lumps are cancerous. There are other reasons such as cysts and fibrous changes. It is a fact that only 2 people out of every 10 who attend the breast clinic, will receive a cancer diagnosis and the younger you are the less likely you are to be one of them. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees, so you are both doing the right thing by getting investigated.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you both get on. We are always here for you.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of you!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
