Stomach cancer on FLOT

Hiya all.

I’m Simon, just turned 60. I have stage 3
Stomach cancer. I’m 3 chemo sessions in on FLOT with the last in 8 days. Surgery after then 4 more rounds of chemo.
This for me is a secondary cancer, I got 2 years clear of head and neck cancer in September so getting this diagnosis was a bit of a kick.

Thankfully I’ve been very lucky and had very few and very mild effects, can’t do cold on my hand or lips after treatment for 5 days. The filgrastin injection makes me feel horrid and lethargic but with really bad insomnia. I was on 5 days but they have cut down to 3 which I can survive then sleep 16 hours.
Still have a full head of hair too.
Feel quite guilty after reading how others have suffered but I’m also incredibly stubborn and will fight any obstacle.
I’m board as not allowed to go to work as working as a paramedic in any setting is according to my Dr, just not worth it.
Thank you for allowing me to join.
Best regards to all and fight the fight.

Simon

  • Hi Simon,

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through but you sound so strong and brave. You sound as if you are a real fighter and very positive over your diagnosis as well as your outcome.

Keep that positivity. You are amazing and you will win this battle.

  • Gaday Maite.
The only way I can be is positive and fight. There is no way this *** will beat me. Maybe crossing the road will be my undoing or that one beer too many and taking on a stupid dare.
Thank you for your support and kind words.

  • That's all very true...my friend reminded me of this a while back and pointed out that we may be completely healthy but can be taken out at any time by an unforeseen accident or similar. Life is fragile. Positivity helps get us safely through the hard knocks and it's so lovely to read from someone as positive as you (not that a lot of other people on here aren't also very positive).
