Urgent gynae referral following pelvic exam and ca125

Hi,

I posted on one of the other areas but wanted to do it on the introduce me section too to increase the chance of someone getting in touch.

I attended my GP with some bowel changes and pain to my lower left abdomen (no other OC symptoms like abnormal bleeding, pain during sex etc and generally I feel really well), she asked to do an internal exam and of course I let her - she was quite concerned and felt a lump but never specified where, I was called the next day to my as gynae wanted my ca125 done before seeing me which came slightly elevated (75) - getting my bloods done the nurse confirmed the lump was believed to be on my ovary.

My ultrasound was booked for the 3rd of January but I have a cancellation for Friday 30th December and now I know wheels are in motion I am feeling better.

I'm only 30 so I'm hoping statistics are on my side but just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience with a positive outcome? I have 2 young children and work in healthcare myself so I'm trying to keep myself busy. I've still no appetite since getting the news but my GP has prescribed me some sleeping tablets and thankfully slept for about 9 hours straight so feeling like a new woman with some new found confidence finally!

  • Hello Catherine-30,

I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck for your ultrasound on 30th December. It's great that you had a cancellation and as you said at least you know now that the wheels are in motion and it won't be long until you get some definite answers.

I hope that you find out more soon about what this lump might be and that others who have had a similar experience will come and share their story with you. You're doing the right thing in trying to keep busy especially during this festive period when time can seem to pass very slowly if you're waiting for important results. There are useful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

It's good that the sleeping tablets your GP prescribed are working well and that you managed to sleep for 9 hours straight. This will help you feel better and more energised.

I hope that you have a lovely Christmas with your little ones and that they get lots of nice presents! It must be hard for you to manage to not think about all this at the moment and I am keeping everything crossed for you that you won't have to wait too long now to find out more. If you can, keep well away from the temptation to look things up online as this will only make you feel more anxious.

I hope that you will hear from other community members who have had similar symptoms and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,
