Suspicious breast lumps, biopsy results Friday, so nervous

Hi

I found a lump and went to gp. Gp referred me to the hospital and I got an appointment with 48 hours last Thursday . When I got there they found a second lump and so had biopsies and the bit of metal thing put in my boob. I was told on the day it's suspicious and that they were sorry but they couldn't see anything in my lymph nodes which the nurse said was good. I have to wait for the team meeting which isn't until this Friday (over a week later) for them to review and call me back in. I'm trying to be positive but I'm so god damn nervous and stressed I'm not sleeping properly. I know there is so much that can be done but the wait is killing me trying to stay positive.
so looking for some reassurance I'm not alone and someone else been in this situation before. Im preparing for bad news after them saying what they said but im going out of my mind lol

    Hi CazCu,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry that you find yourself here, but just want to assure you that the way you are feeling is perfectly normal. Most of us find our imaginations in overdrive while we are waiting for results. You have been fortunate to get your appointment through so quickly and to get your results only a week later.

It is always especially difficult when you are told at the time, that your consultant thinks that it's suspicious. I have been in your position 3 times. The first and last were primary cancers and fortunately, the middle time tured out to be clear. Despite having had 2 bouts of breast cancer within a year of each other, 13 years ago, I still lead a busy and fulfilled llife. This is a position that I never expected to find myself in today. I had lost my mum to breast cancer before I was diagnosed and naturally expected the worst case scenario for myself.

Fortunately, diagnosis, treatment and aftercare have made great strides in the past few years and many are now living with breast cancer instead of dying with it. The nurse was right. It is good news that they couldn't see anything in your lymph nodes. Cancer spreads via the lymph nodes, so if there is no sign of any there, you may have caught it early. What sort of tests did you have - ultrasound, mammogram and/or biopsy?

I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Remember, that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

Im sorry to hear about your mum and glad you are doing well.

I had scan ,mammogram and biopsy's on the 2 lumps x

Iv been reading a lot of threads on here and everyone is so lovely and supportive. I know hearing those words won't be the end of the world as so much can be done but it's just the wait that's driving me crazy x I won't get a follow up appointment until the consultants have had their meeting on Friday. Part of me just wants to hide away and not go

    to work xx

    Hi CazCu,

Waiting for your results is always one of the most stressful times in your cancer journey. You usually get an appointment through quite soon after the Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting, which is due tomorrow. In the meantime, try to distract yourself from the wait by keeping busy

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you fingers crossed I hear soon but I know i

probably wont hear anything until Atleast next week. I feel better now though my boob isn't throbbing from the biopsy ha ha xx

  • Hi CazCu,

I'm glad to hear that the pain from your biopsy is settling down. Fortunately, it doesn't usually last for very long. I suspect that the holiday on Monday may also put your results back a day.

Please report back when you hear anything.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine x

I got a phone call yesterday and my appointment is Tuesday at 2:30. Keeping everything crossed but I feel oddly better that I now have an appointment booked in x

now I just have to occupy myself for 3 days, my poor house won't know what's hit it. Ha ha xx

    Hi CazCu,

It's great to hear that you don't have too long to wait. Your house should be sparkling by Tuesday!

I am hoping and praying for a good result.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi CazCu,

Did you have the meeting with your consultant on Tuesday - if so, how did you get on?

    Thinking of you,

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

Not good news. I have invasive ductal grade 3 and have to have a mastectomy. I'm back at the hospital this morning to see my nurse to discuss all things reconstruction. The likelihood is chemo after but will be confirmed after the boob has been tested after removal xxx

  • Hi, sorry to hear your situation. I'm in a similar but different in a way. I had bowel cancer 10 years ago and have been in remission. Had surgery last year to remove kidney stones should have had a follow up ct scan 3 months later but only had this July due to covid backlog in the hospital. The scan came back with abnormalities in my lungs abdomen and pelvis. Saw the original consultant from 10 years ago for results and he said it's either a recurrence of bowel cancer but it's a very late presentation. He thinks it could be a new cancer called sarcoma. He reffered me for a biopsy getting the results on Tuesday and very nervous, so I totally understand where you are coming from.
