waiting time

Hi everyone,

I found a lump on the back of my neck end of August. saw GP she was very dismissive as is nothing, didn't even look at it. I insisted to be checked

then she sent me for a blood test and ultrasound. was told 2 to 4 weeks ultrasound, not to call the hospital, they will contact me.

5 weeks later nothing. I called the hospital, and I was told that there was a fault in the system and all the letters are processed now.

So was told that the waiting time is back to 2 to 4 weeks. Imagine my reaction. I called 2 weeks later and got a cancellation so i booked the ultrasound.

3 weeks After the ultrasound was contacted by GP to refer me to dermatologis. They cancels my appointment and GP sent me to 2ww referral to a hospital in London. They too last week rejected my referral. First I was told that my GP forgot to send the ultrasound. Then from GP I was told that is not true. They rejected to be treated locally. What treatment??? as I don't even know what I have. On the patient, Access is suspected soft tissue sarcoma- fact track nesting.

Now apparently I have to wait for the hospital in London to write to Gp so GP can refer me to local treatment. I booked a Private consultation as I need to know. I have or i don't have a serious condition.

Is not free but at least someone will tell me something. This pushing around had messed up my mental health. I wonder sometimes if humanity and care is gone. Everyone had been very cold and dismissive. Whatever answer i can deal with it. But no answer is just distressing.

The word Cancer it is scary at it is.. I only told a few work colleagues as my behavior at work had been a bit stressful. They can escuse me if i am brushed with them. But my 22 years daughter knows nothing. She has plans and i don't want her to cancel everything because of me.

She is my only family here.

Thank you for reading my sad story.. I am a happy person, God has a plan for all of us. So GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

  • Hello Nicsonic

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting for an appointment regarding the lump that you've recently had an ultrasound on. It sounds as if you've been given quite the run around by various departments over the past few months and it's understandable that you're feeling anxious about what this lump may be.

It's good to hear that you do now have an appointment arranged and hopefully, the specialist will be able to give you some answers and reassurance. In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses? I'm sure they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support that they can ahead of your appointment. If you'd like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on Nicsonic.

    Best wishes,
