CPD oil

Hi everyone

this question has probably been asked before it I guess we are all looking for a cure! My brother has sarcoma cancer and has been given a not so good prognosis. He has had a few years of radiotherapy and starts chemo today.

His daughter is trying to help and would really like him to try CPD oil but has anyone any personal long term experience of using it please?

thank you

  • Hi Pixie0307,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your brother.

Unfortunately at the moment there isn’t enough reliable evidence to prove that any form of cannabis can effectively treat cancer in patients. We have some more information on this topic on our website which you can find here.

We also have an article on our Science Blog which goes into a bit more detail about the evidence so far - you can find this here.

I hope that these are helpful in finding out a little more on this topic.

It's worth noting that you should also discuss this with your brother's doctor/specialist, especially if you are considering changing anything that may affect his current treatment.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hello thank you for your info. My brother has discussed it with his consultant so we are trying to find people who have actually tried the oil.

    thank you

  • Hello Pixie

I have tried cannabis oil in the past, but not in any way to treat my cancer or in the hope that it would cure it, because I don’t personally believe that is possible. My intention was to use it to help with pain, sleep and anxiety reduction if that were possible. My experience was that it helped with all 3. I used what I believed to be a good quality product which had good reviews and not something you buy from a health food shop.

If you are hopeful of cannabis oil being a cure for cancer, I believe you will be disappointed, but it depends what your expectations are or what your intentions are when using it. I was not on treatment when I used it, but it’s good your brother has discussed it with his consultant as this is an important factor. I don’t in any way endorse the use of cannabis oil, I am merely relating my own experience. I think sometimes we can become desperate for something, anything that may help. For me, it was because I wasn’t able to access effective pain relief at that point. But I would caution you to be realistic about what it may achieve for your brother. I’m so sorry to read of his diagnosis and prognosis, and hope that he can be comfortable. I would also stress that my use was on a short term basis to deal with a particularly difficult time. Best wishes.

  • Hi i tried CBD oil for pain in my arthritic knee after injections didn't help, found it a good painkiller but nothing else, i used it for four years .I'm on palative care, no change to my cancer at all . remember CBD is a mild drug that's why it's allowed to be used at all legally .
