  • Hello Lisa,

I am sorry to hear about your father in law and that he has been offered palliative chemotherapy. There is information on our website on chemotherapy for advanced lung cancer which may be useful for you to look at. It might be worth getting in touch with your father in law's medical team and asking them directly what will happen after those 18 weeks and whether there is a chance he might be offered more.

Don't hesitate to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you'd like to talk things through with them - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they may be able to tell you more about what to expect and have some good suggestions for you.

I hope that you will hear from other members of the forum who have also looked after a loved one who has received palliative chemotherapy for lung cancer and that they will come and share their experience with you. I hope you won't mind but I have added the words 'palliative chemotherapy' to the title of your thread to make it more specific and attract more relevant replies.

Best wishes to you and your father in law and best of luck for his treatment,
