Dad dying with cancer: feel in emotional limbo land

Hi, my dad was admitted into hospital on 12th incredibly poorly, we've been called to say goodbye many times. Tuesday dad was so cold, sleeping and not eating much or talking much, we knew it was time but by Thursday he was so alert (still confused) but talking almost normally and drinking protein shakes and even getting up (much to the nurses frustration as hes not steady) yesterday he was the same and now the hospital are saying he can move to a hospice as he seems better?! That's fine with us but I hate being in this emotional limbo land

  • Hi ATAY,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the situation with your dad and I can completely understand your feelings about this - I'm sure it must be incredibly difficult and with the added uncertainty too.

Try to take things a day at a time and keep doing what you can to support your dad but also look after yourself too.

We're always here for support if you need it and hopefully the forum can be helpful for you, even if it's simply to write things down or reach out to others who may be in a similar situation.

    Wishing you all the best,
