Hi Nick28. My Mum died in December to Ovarian Cancer. She took to her bed permanently about 2-3 weeks before passing. She was on 3 syringe drivers with a variety of meds. I would say, make the most of your time now. Talk about memories. Record your Mum's voice talking about her memories. Take photos of you with your Mum and other family members. You may feel you don't want photos of your Mum when she is so ill, but when you look back you may feel differently. Laugh and smile about things as much as you can. Let your Mum know how much you love her, and that you will all be OK. Make sure she sees all the people she wants to see. My Mum hung on until everything was ticked off her mental list. These will be very tough days but make the most of every moment and make sure you have plenty of support around you. Stay strong for your Mum xx

Thank you. I am so sorry for your loss. We have been doing the memory photos an videos. I try to tell her how much she is loved she just wont accept it. She becoming really snappy as she in so much pain I am waiting on palliative care consultant to contact. She can barely stay downstairs for an hour. Today she struggled to even eat 2 very small new potatoes. Inside I'm hurting so much but outside I'm trying so hard. Just so awful to see her in so much pain an suffering. It was less than a year ago since original diagnosis. She was such an active strong woman an now I m scared to leave an go to shop in case anything bad happens. Hi Nick. My Mum's appetite became less and less. Due to the constipation and a blocked bowel she was advised to try a low fibre diet. Towards the end she was really just eating things like jelly, custard, angel delight. Anything she could manage, and very tiny amounts. We had the palliative care nurses come once a day to do her meds (she had 3 syringe drivers and a catheter within the last week). Within last 2 weeks we had Hospice at Home who came once a day initially for personal care and then twice a day probably in last week. This took some of the burden off us. Get all the help you can. My Mum was in a hospital bed for the last few weeks, and was bed bound the last two weeks. I didn't really notice much of a smell until near the very end but I am sure everyone is different. Never be afraid to ask for help. We would do anything to not see our loved ones go through this. All you can do is do your best for her and help make her as comfortable as possible. And spend time making memories x
