Hello,
My dad was diagnosed with secondary liver and pancreatic cancer last May. For a long time now we have tried many different things to help. He was on chemotherapy to try and maintain the tumour but unfortunately this did not work.
In recent months he has been on a course of steroids which caused him to become diabetic and has now been provided a reduced amount. He is also still taking morphine.
In recent weeks, the liver has now shut down and he has become jaundice and his legs and stomach have become very swollen with all the fluid. He has been provided water tablets to try and reduce this and we have been told his stomach can be drained but not his legs.
I would like some sort of education on what the next steps may be? Will his other organs start to shut down now? Once the liver has shut down, will his other organs now shut down quickly? I know no one can provide a definite timeline but any sort of guidance would be much appreciated as I cannot switch off thinking about him and what is going to happen. I know that will never change but I feel more in control with my emotions if I know what to expect.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
