Re: Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme

My Dad passed away on the 8th of January 2019 just two months after being diagnosed with a Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme Brain Tumor. After initial diagnosis in November of 2018 surgery was scheduled for December and removal of the golfball sized tumor behind his right ear.

The mass was successfully removed however the risidual spidering had to be attacked with Radiation Treatment which couldn't commence until his incision had healed from surgery, approximately 6 weeks. Considering that the initial tumor had only been growing for three months without any foundation from which to develop, we suspected that the six weeks between surgery and treatment would allow the spidering roots to redevelop (which it did) and once again aggresively grow.

Dad passed away with two of his initial treatments remaining. He did mention to me that he felt as though the treatment wasn't doing anything and that he was certain that the end was near.

  • Hello thayward92,

On behalf of everyone on Cancer Chat, I am very sorry for the loss of your father so shortly after his diagnosis. I'm thinking of you at this difficult time and our members are always here for support, should you need it.

    Warmest regards,

  • Thank you very much Anastasia, I really do appreciate your support! Considering that literally Billions of dollars over the decades have been invested into the cure of Cancer, no other disease in the history of mankind has paralyzed us as Cancer has.

In 2014 after a three year battle with Pancreatic Cancer, my mom passed away from Pancreatic Cancer, some forty years after her father had passed away from the very same disgnosis, and yet it is apparently NOT hereditary!

Just last year our 29 year old daughter was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer and thank goodness the medical team was able to remove it, she has been declared as Cancer Free (in October) at least for now!
