my brother was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer 5 weeks ago he is 52.

he is now confined to bed cannot eat and barley drinks anything as it makes him sick, they cannot do anything for him. He said his mouth tastes like he has money in it??!

Can anyone tell me how long he may have. He sleeps all the time and cannot get up as he’s so thin and weak. 

We are all devastated. 

Any reply with an idea would be great and I know it’s like asking how long is a piece of string but we do not know how long he will have to suffer we are all very lost and the docs won’t tell us anything regarding how much time he has. His wife is not sleeping as she’s worried he will pass when she’s asleep,

    Hi ime ime so sorry you your brother are going through this its i disease thats so unpredictable it drives us mad. .i think the reason the drs will not tell you how long is because they dont know i lost my partner four months ago we thought liz would have a while .but four days after first chemo she had stroke and passed two days later it wasnt directly the cancer that killed her but the cancer was the main reason there are so many storys on here where people thought they would go quickly and have lasted months but otheres that have had opposite i think thats the one thing that makes this terrible disease even worse so spend as much time as you can with your brother if he has family give his wife and kids as much support as you can and look after yourself to. Sorry i cant help you much but thats how cancer works. Best wishs paul

    Hello from me also.  As Paul states I too have found large variations in the progress of this disease with family and friends affected.  But going by what you have said it does not appear that your brother is likely to have many months or weeks left if that.  I am so sorry.  I am attaching some information from this website about dying of cancer and you might find it helpful in forming a judgement.   I hope it does as you are are all obviously so distressed.  Annie
