Hello there Alexbelsonica; sorry you are gradually losing your dad. Very hard to accept and worrying when you are not sure what to expect. I am attaching a link to information about dying taken from this website. I would just add that this can vary from person to person; the - fairly limited - experience I have had for caring for terminal cancer patients has shown me that some people make a gradual decline while others can go fairly quickly. However I do hope this will be helpful. While it sounds as though your dad's body is gradually closing down there is no definite answer that I can give and sometimes the doctors cannot do so either other to say "it is gradually happening". You can speak to the nurses here - they work Mon-Fri 9am-5pm Freefone 0808 8004040 - if you think it would make you feel more confident about what is happening. My best wishes and sympathy to you and your family. Annie

Hi Alexbelsonica,
Annieliz has given the best answer possible really. Just wanted to message and say sorry for the situation you and your dad are currently facing. I hope that he gets to go as painlessly and quickly as possible so he (and you) can be at rest in the knowledge he is no longer hurting. It must be so lovely knowing that you have been beside him in his last days.
My thoughts are with you, LJx
