We lost my Dad on Friday lunchtime after a short but terrible fight with cancer, this particular form is very rare and by the time the symptoms presented themselves it was too late for any treatment. From diagnosis to his passing was just 7 weeks, what made it worse was the speed that it took hold of him. We had maybe two weeks with him before he went rapidly downhill. My mother did an unbeliveable job in caring for him at home and it was only for the final 48 hours that she had to hand him over to the hospital. I will never know where she gained the strength from to deal with this awful disease. The only comfort that I can take is that he died with my mum, sister and granchildren around him.
It is so hard to believe that the kind, caring and loving soul that I was lucky enough to call Dad has now gone and he will be missed more than he could ever have known.
