Thoughts on the Dying Process

I insert my late wife's thoughts.  She died of Kidney cancer of the lymph glands on 19th January this year.  She was very positive to the end and tried hard to learn and share her experience for the benefit of others.

Please feel free to view and read and share with anyone who would benefit.  Debbie's horror was dying young and mine is living without her but her message is one of hope. xxx

  • Hi Jules

Await to hear on the portapuzzle.

I am still fine much to everyones surprise.  They all seem to think I should be ill and are surprised that I am doing so well.  CT Scan tomorrow and consultant and chemo on Tuesday so hopefully he can tell me then what the scan shows.

My sister works in a shop and was only the other day moaning that they have now been given individual hourly targets.  She said one of these days they might actually be able to chat to customers rather than pounce on them to ask what they want and trying to sell them far more than they came in for.  Not that my sister does that.  She justs chats to customers when she can even if they do not want to buy anything.  She does this on the basis that they might well come back to buy something in the future.

    Hope all continues well.

  • Hi Gill

Its great that you are dealing with your chemo so well. It does seem to effect everyone differently (probably because its tailormade for each person).  Keep up the good work.

Hubby has had a couple of really sleepy days (happens from time to time) but was up when I got back from the supermarket and eating the breakfast I had left out for him.  Now has the company of neighbour's cat and is waiting for his medication to kick in.  Birthday gifts still keeping him company around his chair (has not started to 'play' yet).

    Have a good weekend.

    Hi Ian

Hope you have a lovely weekend and that all the family doing okay too. Think its a case of making the most of the dry weather here today as tomorrow looks v.wet so am off out again shortly to shop for Easter (small gift for grandchildren as we do not go overboard on the 'eggs').

    Hugs from Jules xx

  • Hi Jules,

Yes I had a great weekend, thank you.  Sounds as if yours went well with hubby gainfully occupied with B-day presents!!  Hope you had a good Easter Egg hunt.  I'm lucky that I have no immediate children to buy such for.

Wet dog today but hey!  Busy week a head as end of year stuff needs doing!

Hope you have a lovely week.

Lots of virtual hugs and kisses

    Ian x

  • Hi Gill,

A sunny day !  I hope yours will be ... these are the days that it's all about ... one's to enjoy being in ...

Lots of kind thoughts and gentle virtual hugs

  • Hi Ian (and Jules)

It seems only right that the sun is shining today.  Had some very good news from the hospital yesterday.  I saw the consultant yesterday.  He has confirmed that my neck is back to normal which we knew anyway in his words "because you no longer look like an alien"!.  He has also confirmed that the only evidence of the disease remaining is one enlarged lymph node under my right arm.  I cannot feel or see this and the consultant is not sure if this is pathalogical.  I am not entirely sure what he meant by this but was so pleased and surprised by what he had said I forgot to ask.  Given that this was after only four treatments the Consultant said it was "remarkable".

Had round five yesterday and feel fine this morning.  Better than I have before immediately after a treatment but realise this may not last and I may feel rough in the day or two.

Have one final round in three weeks and two further infusions of one of the drugs (more immunotherapy than chemo therapy) and then I am done except for a further scan and bone marrow biospy (ouch).

Hope all is well with you.

    Gill

  • Hi Ian

Glad all is well. As to the Easter Eggs am afraid it's the 'adult'children who still like to receive them as well as the eldest grandson (baby has money for his bank account) and hubby(and usually have a little dish of smallest eggs for visitors!!).  In the end did very well on 'offers' available and there should be some good 'chocolatey smiles' come Easter Sunday.

Hubby still has his presents surrounding him though no sign of them being put to use yet!!  No doubt he will be helped come Friday when daughter and children visit prior to them going away for a week to the Father in law in Wigan -nice break for them.

Sending hugs for a good week ahead.  Jules x

  • Hi Gill

  • Morning Ian

Our weekend was very pleasant. Saw our daughter and grandsons on Friday before they left for a weeks hols and spent time 'playing' in the garden.  Out for our usual Friday night socialising and with the lovely weather spent much of the weekend in the garden (me).  Work is busier with the children on hols and today am off to feed grandson's giant land snail and then onwards to visit my Mum.  Good to  keep busy.

Wishing you a Happy Easter however you are planning to spend it.  Hugs  Jules x
