I want to cry - found out just before Christmas I have a rare form of Leukaemia

I have a rare form of leukaemia.  I found out just before Christmas when I received a letter from the hospital to my doctor. I, for some reason was copied into the letter. My daughter takes strength in the fact that I said I would fight it. But deep down, all I want to do is cry. My friends are very supportive and all say that I'm a fighter having already had Polio which left me Crippled since 1961 when I was a few weeks old. I genuinely think that I've had more than my fair share of suffering and always ask 'Why ME?' Some might say "Why not you" but I just feel like crying.  Sorry for the rant.

  • Hello Andy in 2023 I to was diagnosed with lukimia 2 days before I was happy in work after spending weeks in isolation having chemo and bloods and platelets I was then given chemo in the basement o my spine. Then 8 months as out patient on Arsenic treatment. Has left my mental health shattered I found people think your over the treatment so I should be happy  . But every time I go for checks I'm a wreck.

Any way sending hugs and strength to you.

  • Hi Caz. I hope you're having a good Easter! Here in Saxilby,  it's a lovely day,  the sun is shining, it's not cold and I've got a bottle of wine in the fridge for tonight.

Apart from that,  I'm still a wreck. It seems to be when I'm alone with my thoughts, I seem to be  always thinking about the end.  I feel so alone, but I'm not lonely,  just living alone is difficult at times. Every new ache, every slight cough, anything that feels new, worries me. Trust me to get a rare form! Apparently only 15 people a year get my Leukaemia.  Typical, Polio when I was a baby now this! And guess what? I can't ein sod all on yhe lottery! Anyway,  enough of my whinging,  take care Sweetie

    Andy x
