My father in law is dying…

My father in law had prostate cancer and it metastised to his bones last year and then spread .. He is now at hospital “end of life care” This is day 3 since he last talked or drank water. He has been in deep sleep..

He opened his eyes this morning for 20 min. His wife and sons talked to him and he could only blink his eyes. He then went back to sleep. He had rattling breathing sounds last night. He doesn’t move at all.. The nurses just reposition him every now and then.. He’s just lying on bed, he can’t even close his mouth.. It’s so hearthbreaking to see him like that.. No idea how long more..

I just read your post and wanted to reply to say that I hope you are all being well supported by the hospice staff and that your father-in-law has been kept as comfortable as possible.

Thinking of you all at this difficult time.

  • Hello Jenn,

Thank you very much for your message. We are forever grateful for the staff who supported us the last few days. Unfortunately, my father in law passed away last night. He is no longer suffering.. It will be though but we have a great family supporting each other. ️
