Hello, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in lockdown in 2020, she had a mastectomy and radiotherapy and then was put in Anastrozole for a couple of years. After this she had her annual mammogram and an annual call with the surgeon. Then in 2023 we found out that it had spread to her liver and peritoneum and she had had multiple chemotherapy medication and other things however none have worked, she has now been put in palliative care for the next couple of months.
my question is should further testing have been done in the mean time? For example blood tests? Surely this would help in picking up any other signs that she had cancer again? I wasn’t sure whether she had just been lost in the system due to Covid or whether this was the protocol for these types of patients?
I just think even some sort of testing should’ve been done, this is just one example I can’t even begin to imagine how many others there would be
