What to expect? metastatic colorectal cancer

Hi all,

My dad has been diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer. It has spread to the liver and lungs. Doctors are not giving us much support or details, his eyes turned yellow, body now turning yellow. He is on antibiotics. No appetite, very gaseous, nauseating. What does this mean? What should we expect? Doctors have given up on him, his chemotherapy is more of an experiment rather than treatment. When he gets more sick and goes to emergency they quickly dismiss him and say there is nothing more they can do for him. Is this it? Can anything more be done by Doctors? Will the yellowness go away? Is it the liver shutting down? Will it get worse and if so how? Thank you in advance

  • Bless him xx. My dad was in and out of the loo the whole day and especially after a meal. He thought it was normal, it had been going on for years. We tried to get him to see a doctor but he was very stubborn. His diarrhoea was explosive too. He then started getting pains when sitting, this came with bleeding. We were 100% sure it was hemorrhoids. He was in Tanzania when this happened and he scheduled an appointment to get the hemorrhoids removed. Luckily, the doctor was a very experienced doctor and as he was about to perform the procedure he Stopped doubting it was hemorrhoids, took a sample for biopsy and that is when we came to find out it was cancer. It would have gone down a different path!

  • Hey Ralna. How is your lovely dad doing? Just wanted to confirm my Dads cancer has spread to his liver, peritoneum and lymph nodes. He too was abroad (in Bangkok) when he found all this out. They’re much quicker and thorough I find but it’s all very confusing as to what is going on because of the translation issues so we are waiting for him to see someone back home. Sending lots of love x
