PSA rising

Hello my husband was diagnosed with advanced prostrate cancer in Nov 2020.  He has been on Enzalutamide and Prostap since and also had 12 session s of Radiotherapy.  Unfortunately PSA started to rise in November and has doubled every 4 weeks since and is 18 today.  We are waiting on MRI and scans.  Were told 6-8 weeks that was 4 weeks ago and today told could be March.  I am sick with worrybas he is adamant that he doesn't want to have chemo.  Has anyone experienced rising PSA after 12 months on Enzalutamide and what alternative treatments were offered?

  • Hi I've got advanced prostate cancer gone to lymph nodes spine ribs pelvis and a lung ,i was diagnosed Feb 2016 PSA was 1500 started on hormone therapy,(decapeptyl), injections ,then started chemotherapy 6 sessions over 2years PSA went to 0.03 slowly went up 2years to 2.2 then over 3month  up to 65 , July 2020 started on Enzalutamide PSA dropped to 0.04 as is now , there are different options but I'm afraid I don't know what is best one . hope whatever treatment works well for him, .

    Take care.

  • Thanks Billy.  We weren't offered Chemo because of Covid so went straight onto Enzalutamide plus prostap injections every 3 months.  I hope that Chemo works.  I note you only had 6 sessions over 2 years.  Can I ask if that is usual and did it make you very ill ?

    thanks

  • i had a session every three weeks over four months , originally at beginning of treatment i was supposed to have 10sessions , but i have other medical conditions which reacted with chemo, hence cut down to 6  .

i also have hiatus hernia which reacted and made me Sick in-between sessions but about a week before and after chemo i was fine and working "metal fabrication and welding firm" .

Ask any questions you like, remember im only speaking from my experience,.
