My 11 year old son has been diagnosed with lymphoma

Hello, I’m feeling very adrift today as my 11 year old son has been diagnosed with lymphoma. We got the results today. I’m all over the place and have come here to talk to others in this position and try to make sense of it. I know I have to be strong for him and I’d love to know how other parents have navigated this.

Thank you

  • Hello hseverine,

I am so sorry to hear about your son's lymphoma diagnosis at such a young age. I am not sure what type of lymphoma he has been diagnosed with but I thought I would share with you the information we have on our website on lymphoma which I hope will be useful to you. It can be a lot to take in after receiving this news and if you want to talk things through with our cancer nurses, you are welcome to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

You have come to the right place though to talk to others who have previously had a similar diagnosis and if you type in the words 'lymphoma' in our forum search function which is at the top of the page you will be able to find other threads on the subject and feel free to respond to any you feel would be of interest to you. I had a little look for you and found for example  's thread and you will see there  's reply and they were both very recently diagnosed with lymphoma.  also posted this thread last month and would be another good person for you to connect with here. Last but not least,  who is only 17 years old was diagnosed at the age of 16 with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and you can read her story on this thread and respond to her if you wish to do so.

I hope this helps a little hseverine. I have added a little bit more information to the title of your thread so that it can be more easily spotted by others who may have a relevant lymphoma experience to share.

Best wishes to you and your son,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
