Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Hi, I’m Lucey and I am 17 years old. I was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma in December 2022 when I was 16. From December to may I had ABVD chemotherapy which seemed to be working when I had my halfway through scan, and I was told my cancer was no longer active. In July I was told there was a little area of the cancer in my neck so in August I had 18 sessions of radiotherapy which led me into September.
Since finishing radiotherapy I had this awful pain in my back going into my legs, the same pain if not worse than before I was diagnosed, I went into hospital with a few other symptoms a few weeks ago and my consultant requested a urgent PET scan because he thinks it’s the cancer again, and he says that I will have a more intense chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant if this is the case. I have my results for this scan tomorrow and I just feel like I know the result already, and for my consultant to say that too it’s all just playing on my mind. I don’t want to receive the bad result I don’t want it all to become real again. I am just scared and I don’t want to have to be poorly again.

  • Hello Luceymai

I think from your post that you had an appointment with your Consultant today for the results of your most recent tests.

It's natural that you've been feeling worried and scared and I hope that in amongst whatever news the Dr gave you today they were able to give you some reassurance.

If it would help to talk things through with someone you're welcome to call our team of nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Let us know how things went Luceymai when you feel able to.

    Best wishes,
