Went to my 2 weeks colposcopy appointment

So today I went to my colposcopy appointment and was told i

had a rare form of cells and abnormal cells and it's a mix although the letter stated I would get treatment the Dr said he will not treat it instead took a punch biopsy and told me the will have a MDT meeting to discuss my treatment and likely to be surgery as a large area is affected so now I'm here freaked out not knowing what is going on.

I don't want to freak anyone else out however this Chat made me feel better before I went to then go through this its horrible and I have never missed a smear and last year I had no abnormal cells.

  • Hello Crystal09

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently dealing with some health concerns. It's understandable that you may have questions after your appointment earlier this week.

It's possible that the initial appointment letter you received was a standard letter hence why it said that you would receive treatment on the day. It sounds like the Consultant wants to make sure that they move things forward with the best place for you hence why they have taken a biopsy and will discuss the results with their colleagues. I understand this can be frustrating and hopefully you won't have to wait too long to hear back from the clinic regarding the next steps.

We know that for many people this period of waiting and uncertainty can be difficult. It can help to chat things through with someone and I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk with one of our nurses. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can ahead of your next appointment. If you'd like to speak with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do keep in touch Crystal and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
