I’ve not only lost my mum but my best friend

Its with a broken heart that I write this post, my beautiful mum passed away sunday 14/11/21 at 18.33pm after a 15 month battle with cancer! She was 66!  But as she said from the day of diagnosis she would fight to the very end and by goodness did she do that! The 2/3 hrs building up 2 her passing away was horrendous very upsetting as her chest was rattling and she was in and out of consciousness, but at the end in a silly sort of way it was beautiful! Mum was struggling 2 breath then all of a sudden she opened her eyes as wide as I’ve ever seen them and turned 2 the side of the bed, I said is he here mum she nodded with the most excited smile on her face she took a deep breath and went it was almost as if we saw her soul leave her body, the colour then just drained from her and she was free she passed in a room filled with love surrounded by My sister, her best friend, myself and my husband

    I read your post and just had to reply. My thoughts are with you and sending love to you and your family. 
     

     I lost my dad very suddenly at the end of September, it still feels like yesterday. He had a sore hip and chest quite all of a sudden, he went to the doctors and they sent him for a broncoscopy to see what was going on. From this he developed pneumonia and was gone within 5 days. We only got the diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer which had spread to the bone once he had passed away.

    I was on holiday and never got to say goodbye so it's really special you were there for your mum. You said that you had said to your mum 'is he there' I wondered what you meant by that and whether she may have seen a loved one and looked peaceful before she went. That would give me so much comfort too, searching for a peaceful thought of my dad now he's gone.

    I'm so sorry for your loss, I lost my step dad 20 yrs ago he was the love of mums life, throughout the day she passed the room fielt like it filled up almost especially the 2 hrs prior to her passing, it felt very crowded although her room was big and there was only 5 inc mum in the room, we had been smelling cigarette smoke also (my dad smoked) and a flowery purfume, half hr b4 she passed I had to open a windonslightly as it felt so weird and cramped in there, I said is he her (my dad) she nodded smiled took a massive in breath and was like a whoosh feeling in the room and she was gone, within minutes the room felt empty was a very strange but an incredible experience. I was doubting the "loved one will come for you' whist watching my mum gasp for breath but what we witnessed in that room that night restored my faith,
