Coping with the loss of a parent

My Dad had the same. He went into hospital and was told it was maybe kidney stones and would be given antibiotics. 13 days later he was gone. We had no time to say things ,hug or plan anything.  After he passed I went to the outpatients appointment that had been booked for him that we were meant to go together . I found out then that it was pancreatic cancer.
I went through the motions at Christmas too for my Moms sake.  I still feel like I'm dreaming and am going to wake up.  The shock is absolutely devastating.

  • Hi , I'm a new member too and this is my first post . My Dad passed away unexpectedly on the 16th December. I feel exactly the same as you have described. I simply cannot comprehend what has happened .

  • Hi

New to this too. My mum passed away on 13th Nov from pancreatic cancer, she was diagnosed 5 weeks before so it was a complete shock. Christmas has been hard, but we went through the motions for the kids. Over the past few days I cant stop crying and my heart literally aches, I'm also struggling with the fact that its sinking in Im never going to see or speak to her again.
