Losing my mum to cancer at 15

My mum was always my bestfriend without me even realising it and now that's she's gone I regret everything. My mum had stage 4 cancer and died December 20th 2020 only 5 months after her diagnosis. It killed ke watching her grow weaker and weaker everyday until her last breath but I was glad to be by her side when she passed, now that's she's gone I just want her back and I don't know what to do. I only got 15 years with her she never got to see me graduate, have children get married ect. And I don't know what to do knowing I'll never get the chance to hug her or even say I love you to her one last time.

  • Hi Hollie,

I lost my dad on the 1st December. I'm a few years older than you (19) but my sister is only 16 and I think we both feel those things you've described.

Of course grief is different for everyone, even when the circumstances are similar but loosing a parent as a teenager is very difficult. I miss my dad every day. I've found it useful talking to people who have been through something similar. There are groups for children and young adults online and if you want you can always send me a private message.

Im sorry your mum is gone. It's so unfair in so many ways, but you're not alone.
