Cholangiocarcinoma

Has any one else been through anything like this? My dad aged 61 went to AnE with a pain in his side. Still working as a tradesman 6 nights a week, was sent home and told to wait for endoscopy. This happened twice within 10 days. Finally one Monday morning extra tests were taken as bloods were coming back normal. Less than 5 weeks later my dad had died from cholangiocarcinoma. Other wise fit and healthy, very healthy life style and no symptoms what so ever apart from the pain in his left side not right side. My mind is blown.

  • Hello Simon,

My express my deepest sympathies to you and your family. How are you coping, I can understand how you are feeling.

My wife also contracted this same awful condition in May 2017 and suffered until June 2018 when she sadly passed away. This type is of cancer is so rare and is normally stage 4 before it is diagnosed.

I will reply again later I hope are well

  • Hi there, sorry to hear your sad news. I just feel like we were robbed of even a journey. How can you work right up to the time you you feel ill and then like a bombs gone off inside you your demise happens so so quickly. It's 2019 we put people in space! 5 weeks from start to finish is just unreal. I notice you said your wife suffered, I'm so sorry about that. It was the same with my dad, the pain could never be managed all the time he was breathing I think. Just awful to see the person you love suffer like that.

  • Hello Simon,

    Thanks for your reply.

I can't really appreciate how you feel with it being only 5 weeks. We were told that Lesley would be able to have an operation but due to her having complications they changed there mind. We saw a professor who had promised doing the op but as Lesley probably wasn't physically strong enough he cancelled it. This was all through no fault of her own of course.

I could write a book about the last 2 years.

I do feel for you as Lesley was 62 and it was a complete shock to all of us. TBH I am still devastated

How are you coping and what about the rest of your family have you any support and what about your mum.

    Stay strong

    Chris
