lost my beloved husband from mesothelioma

I lost my beloved husband Pete on 22nd May 2019 from mesothelioma. He left me one week after diagnosis. I am heartbroken and can’t imagine life without him. We met when I was 14 and he was 18 and have been together since then. He was a teacher for 31 years but was an apprentice joiner in the early 1960’s and during the end of his apprenticeship was asked to put up an asbestos building which appears to have caused the lung cancer. We have 3 wonderful daughters and 8 grandchildren who are all grieving but also being supported. I feel so lost.

  •  Oh sweetheart, I really, really feel for you.   41 days – it is still so raw. Every breath takes you further away from him doesn’t it? But just keep breathing. If that’s all you can concentrate on, then just do that.

Take all the help you can get from family, friends, the medical teams, counselling – just go for it. Try and accept invitations. Even if it is just for half an hour for a cup of tea  somewhere. Just getting you out of the house will help. And don’t be afraid of the grief. You have to let it come – it is like a tidal wave – there is no stopping it you just have to ride the waves.

You have such a pretty name – it’s my sister-in-law‘s name.  She’s French.

     Take care my dear

  • Hello again I am doing lots of things to keep me busy this evening I have been out for a meal with my lovely next door neighbour. I am going for counselling in a fortnight so hope that helps me.

My parents met in Paris in the 1930’s and I am very happy to have a french name fancy your sister in law having the same name. In this country it isn’t that common although I do know another person called Delphine.

Your messages are really lovely, thankyou

    Delphine
