Blood disease and cirrhosis and then liver cancer

I didn't realise my husband had been ill for quiet a few years. Looking back he had been ill for maybe 13  years. A strong personality a leader and then he had no control. His business failed then the surgery of two new hips and zapping tumours and then the liver cancer took hold. I miss that he cannot share with me the joy of the grandchildren but he taught me to be strong and that is what I must do. I am dreading the days of the 25th and 26th. 30 years and the only people mentioned on my Christmas cards are myself and the dog.The dog who is a friend. Good Will to everybody. Chin up,

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Sheryl

I am so sorry for your loss - your poor husband certainly went through a lot and I am sure he appreciated your support by his side. It is sad that he cannot be with you and share the joy that grandchildren can bring.

It's great that he gave you this strength although I am sure it isn't easy for you at the moment and like for many other people here, the 25th and the 26th will be particularly difficult days and I hope you can support one another via this forum. Our page on Coping with Grief might also be of interest to you.

I have also seen many on our forum mention that their dog is a great companion so I am glad you have this great friend to keep you company and to go on nice walks with. What's your dog's name if you don't mind me asking?

Do keep chatting here whenever you need to reach out to someone. We are all here for you.

    Best wishes,
