Losing my Dad

Hello.

I'm looking for wise words from people potentially going through the same horrendous scenario as myself.

My father was diagnosed with cancer around two years ago and underwent chemo. It was a difficult time for the family but he completed it and we stayed positive. Around 8 weeks ago he had an operation to remove his tumour and the surgeons said it was successful and the tumour was all removed. Unfortunately despite this, he was not recovering.

We found out on Friday that it has spread to his liver and he has merely a month left. We've gone from thinking everything was okay to a complete whirlwind in a few weeks.

I'm due to get married next year and I am absolutely devastated. I worry about my mum, I worry about never being able to cope with this and I honestly have no idea whether there will ever be a bright side

  • Hi Stanley109 I hope u are all managing to stay strong.. my dad died 2 days ago at the age of 65 from cancer.. we had a similar situation- my dad had bowel cancer and got the growth removed, then we knew something was up cos his recovery wasn't going smoothly.. then he started getting back pain and the hospital kept on telling him to take pain killers.. a few weeks after that he lost the feeling in his legs and they did a scan on his back, and they saw that he had a growth on his spine which they removed straight away.. since then it went downhill and we found out that his cancer spread to other places.. i tell myself that at least now he is pain free and in a better place  stay strong- u will all get through it together... congratulations on your upcoming marriage

  • Sorry to hear of your circumstances Stanley. Unfortunately, you are not alone. I lost my dad July 6 of this year. I don't think I can get passed the sadness of it all. The last weeks are absolutely devastating to see your dad wither away to a shell of a body. The cancer just sucks the life right out. My dad was 1 month short of 83 but in otherwise good health and would be alive today if not for the cancer of the pancreas that also spread to his liver. Thinking of my dad. Praying for you and your dad. God bless!
