I have lost my father

My father died 13 days ago. We are not yet prepared and its very hard to accept the fact the he's already gone. 1 month after he was diagnosed to Stage IV lung cancer my father suddenly became weak

  • Hi so sorry to hear your news. My dad passed away 4 weeks ago from lung cancer also. It was very quick - the only bit of advice I can give you is have your family around you - people say it gets easier.. truthfully ifs not any easier. But look after yourself!!!

  • Hi Nicole and Eliz,

Sorry to read about your recent loss. With regard to what you said about it getting easier Nicole, I dont think we ever really get over losing a parent, but in time we do learn to live with our loss. I have to be honest though sometimes, It gets harder before that happens as we come to realize the enormity of our loss.

If it's any conselation, I do believe when we lose a parent, a little bit of them lives on inside of us. I have inherited several good things both from my father and my mother. I find sometimes I will say or do things and realize, it's just what my mother would have said or done. I find it comforting  for I feel she is still guiding me through life if that makes any sense.

Take care both of you, and please stay in contact, Brian.
