I have no words

My beautiful husband passed away on Saturday (1st November). His last few days were awful. He couldn't speak, move, just awful. The cancer is his brain took over. I hate writing these words and don't want to upset anyone but I see him in my mind going through all this over and over again. I feel empty, lost, nothing has any point or meaning any more. I cry, howl, walk around in a daze. The hurt is all consuming. I can't imagine not feeling like this and in a way want to suffer like he did. Maybe I could have done more. I was asleep by him when he passed, why couldn't I stay awake? What if I failed him? I ache for him. I am broken. Sorry to distress any one reading this but have to let it out. I know he wants me to live life and one day I will. But, not now.

  • Good evening,

I can relate to your immense pain, I am in exactly the same boat. I lost my brother aged 33 yesterday morning (I turned 30 on Tuesday) and I cannot seem to process this heartbreak. He was diagnosed with cancer 3 weeks and 4 days ago and has led a full and healthy life up until he fell ill early October with pneumonia and anemia. He has suffered with DVT and other complications and has spent the last 3 weeks in hospital and I am traumatised by his death as I was there in the hours leading up to it. I feel empty, I feel angry, I feel like I have nothing to live for. You are not alone. I take comfort from the last words he said to me “I love you too”. I am always here for you to reach out to.

Thank you HFJ for your message. Seeing someone pass away is just horrible and that's an understatement. You see and hear things that never leave you. Life is so dark and you miss the person so much that its a physical ache. The last words my husband said were I love you. I hold on to those words every day. Everything in life seems so petty at the moment. If other people knew how this feels they wouldn't worry about the silly things in life. I hope you are finding some peace, its so difficult to find.
