Is husband's tiredness due to prostate cancer or depression?

Hi, I can usually cope with whatever life throws at me but would be grateful fro some advice please.  My husband has Prostate Cancer, stage 4 which has spread to his bones; he was diagnosed last year.  He has 3 monthly hormone injections, is on Enzalutamide and starts Radiotherapy next week.  30+ years ago he was diagnosed with clinical depression which he manages very well and we can both deal with well.  My question is that since being diagnosed he is constantly tired and sleeps for a couple of hours every afternoon; is this related to the cancer?  If yes I can deal with it accordingly, if not it is also a symptom of the depression which I totally understand under the circumstances but need to handle differently.

Tahnk you for any replies; I am trying to say stron for both of us and want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

  • Hi Eth .

Please remember I'm not medically trained just a cancer patient.

I was diagnosed Feb 2016 started on hormone injections straight away, for life, then had chemotherapy, my cancer went from prostate to lymph nodes spine ribs pelvis and a lung this year I was put on, enzalutamide because of PSA rising, been feeling rubbish since Very tired no energy, but I'm on other medications for other medical problems and specialist reckons its those tablets reacting with others, but PSA is going down so keeping going and keeping positive.

As long as he feels ok apart from tiredness I'd not worry

I wish him good luck with radiotherapy, and hope you both have a happy Christmas.

  • Hi Billy,

Thank you so much for responding and putting my mind at rest.

I hope the PSA levels continue to go down for you.  Best wishes and I hope you have a good Christmas.
