Natural remedies To beat Grade 4 glioblastoma?

Hello everyone,

My dad has recently been diagnosed with glioblastoma grade 4 and has been given an average of 14 months. As you can imagine we are all devastated, it's such a heart breaking time, no words can describe the pain I'm feeling right now! Life is so unfair! My dad is due to start radio and chemotherapy next week but this is purely for symptom management and not cure (surgery wasn't an option unfortunately which we are absolutely gutted by!) We have recently bought CBD oil and zeolite to try and beat the odds of what my dad has been given and improve some of his symptoms. We got given the go ahead by the medical team for the use of CBD oil (they reassured us it wouldnt interfere with any treatment, although obviously they cannot give us dosage advice or anything due to it not being a prescribed treatment). I've Found a lot of research and studies showing quite promising results using CBD and zeolite! I'm just wondering if anyone has any positive experiences with CBD oil or zeolite? Any positivity no matter how big or small would be so appreciated and welcomed!

  • Welcome to the forum Libby although I'm really sorry about your dad's diagnosis. I can't begin to imagine how tough it must have been to receive this news.

It's understandable you want to try and do whatever you can for your dad but many alternative therapies may interfere with the radiotherapy/chemotherapy and possibly cause side effects as well.

Zeolites have not been studied as a cancer drug in human clinical trials and zeolite supplements have not been approved as safe or effective. Zeolites also have antioxidant effects and may interfere with the actions of chemo drugs.

CBD Oil can be sold in the UK as a food supplement but not as a medicine. There is no evidence to support its use as a medicine. You can read more about it on our website

Our cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m if you'd like to discuss this with them as well.

  • Hi Libby

I cannot offer any advice about the natural remedies using CBD oil, however I am in a similar position to yourself. My mum has a stage 4 glioblastoma and has been given a similar life expectancy as your dad, she is also due to start chemo / radiotherapy soon to manage symptoms, no cure. It feels so unbelievably cruel and unfair. If you would like to chat please get in touch.

  • Hi libby.

I started using CBD oil as a pain killer after meds and injections from Dr didn't help my bad knees it worked wonders, but didn't do anything for my cancer I'm on palliative care, remember as long as oncologist says use Do,. but remember chemo and radio are tried and tested but others drugs can make things worse not better.

    Take care. Billy

  • Hi my name is Peter I'm 73 years of age and was diagnosed with giloblastoma Grade 4 in 2014

at that time my oncologist said I had 18 months, not what you want to hear.

I did the usual Radiotherepy, and Chemotherpy in 2014 to 2015 I then had a good spell living

but have been dignosed with recurent tumour again last March and am currently havind further treatment.

My Oncologist prescribed Valganciclovir (manufactured by Roche) at the outset which is a anti virus drug, I believe this has prolonged my life, is does howeve cost £600 per month

I hope this helps and I wish you the best for the future

    Peter x

  • Hi, one of my family member has been diagnosed with above, any luck with CBD oil? oncologist has said to leave as it is and not to operate on it. Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Khan although I'm sorry to hear a member of your family has been diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma. This must be a very difficult time for you all.

I noticed you were hoping to find out more about CBD oil so I just wanted to share this article we have on our science blog. Although the medical use of cannabis to treat cancer-related chronic pain is approved in the UK, there isn't enough reliable research or evidence to prove that cannabis (or any of its active compounds or derivatives) can reliably treat any form of cancer.

CBD Oil is available in the UK as a food supplement but not as a medicine. There is no evidence to support its use as a medicine. You can find out more just here.

If you'd like to discuss this further with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions but do make sure you speak with your family member's medical team about this as well.

    Kind regards,
