PSA rise after 6 months on hormone treatment

Hi,

My 84 year old dad was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in January. He never had a biopsy so we have no Gleason score.

It had spread to the pelvis and right femur. At its highest his PSA was 31, however he was on Combodart and that might be a low reading as a result.

Three months after his first hormone injection his PSA had gone down to 1.97.

But today he went for his second injection, six months into the treatment, and his PSA has risen to 4.9.

We're worried sick and now have to wait for an oncology appointment and scans etc.

Has anyone else's PSA risen so quickly on hormone treatment and what did that mean for you?

Many thanks in advance.

Rosalie.
