My partner’s mother was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has very quickly deteriorated, to the point where she will be moved into a hospice this week and has been told she has weeks to live. I am struggling to find the right things to say to him. I support him and am always here to listen but I’m not sure how best to express this/the right questions to ask/things to say upon receiving bad news. I don’t want to use unhelpful language or phrases that won’t really help. Any advice on how I can best verbally support him would be very welcome. Thank you.
